I had an interesting experience with Zappos. My shoes took 7 days to arrive (which I quickly noted in my marketing blog) and they immediatly contacted me and offered me 20% off. Nicely done. Then – to top it all off – they sent me an autographed Zappos yearbook via snail mail. A real book in the Internet age! So yeah – happiness should be a line item on all P+L’s.

BTW: INC magazine is always a must-read!

“Goofing off” is a good portion of my day now. It keeps one sane, fresh, and ready to spring into action at a moment’s notice. (My wife jokes that I sit around all day hoping people send me money.)

I think there is still a lot to be learned by Corporate America and even small businesses about human nature in the workplace and all the things surrounding rewards, personalities, environment, etc.

If I ever get to the point that I need to hire people, it will be a radically new way of looking at things, I assure you.
