Where Am I Going With This (the 400th Post)?

by Starbucker on August 14, 2007

Today I write my 400th post to this blog. I never thought when I started this adventure I’d even remotely have this much to say, but my brain and my heart have surprised me, and you, my fellow “blogospherians“, have supported and encouraged me.

So here I am, with 399 postings behind me- now what?

I really haven’t thought about that lately.

Sitting down every other day or so to jot down my ramblings has taken such a “normal” role in my life that the notion of the ultimate direction and purpose of this blog has simply failed to materialize.

And you know what? I’m OK with that.

I’d prefer not to know where this is going. Unlike today’s stock market, where the uncertainty is palpable and unwelcomed, the uncertainty I have about Ramblings From a Glass Half Full is actually quite exhilarating.

Why? Because I’m focusing on the journey here, not on the destination. I know that’s almost a cliche for the dustbin these days since we hear it so often, but in this case it works.

Over my next 400 posts I may go off in directions I really didn’t want to go, or write things that I’ll regret, but I’m going to enjoy the ride anyway.

I try to apply this philosophy to my other life activities as well – while I do have high level goals that keep my compass pointing north, keeping a reasonable level of uncertainty hanging around is perfectly fine with me.

It brings to mind one of my favorite songs, “The Dance” by Garth Brooks (written by Tony Arata)- the chorus sums this up very nicely:

And now I’m glad I didn’t know
The way it all would end
The way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I’d of had to miss the dance

Nope, I’m not missing this blogging dance, come what may. Or this one…. :-)

Thank all of YOU for continuing to play the music.

Big congrats…

I am sure it is fun wondering where it will go. It has to be because it is awfully fun watching you get there.

Looking forward to the next 400!!

Hey, Terry, congrats on the milestone! I’m with you on that ‘journey’ thing. Half the fun is finding out where you end up!

Here’s to the next 400 (and I’m not far behind you either!)
