Opi Wan Kennoodling

Once again, my pal Joe at Working at Home on the Internet has challenged me with a fascinating meme – this one is called the “Opi”, originated by April Groves. It asks to describe the “Future me”.

(authors note: I’m sure you’ve noted my clever (at least I hope) play on this in the title to this post – I attempted to combine the meme with a Star Wars reference, plus a brand new word, “Kennoodling”. It’s a combination of the word “ken“, meaning range of sight or vision, and “noodle“, meaning an improvisation. An improvised vision of the “future me”- the Opi. Yowza.)

Joe & April, this one is a toughie (although probably not as tough of that wretched attempt at punnery in the title), but hey, what the heck, here goes, in the form of a news report, circa 2013:

Today, as the keynote speaker at SOBCon13 in Washington, President Bloomberg announced the designation of a new federal holiday, called “Half-Fuller’s Day”, in honor of all optimists everywhere and the positive effect the “Half-Fuller” movement has had on the country over the past 8 years. It will be every May 12, to commemorate the widely thought of “birth” of the movement, the first SOBCon conference in 2007.

Today we celebrate the power of positivity“, said the President. “The movement that was born eight years ago has had an enormous impact in spreading peace, love and understanding throughout our great nation, and throughout the world“. “It is our nation’s pleasure to formally honor the power of the half-full glass and ‘realistic optimism’ by designating this holiday”.

Terry Starbucker, a SOBCon founder, master of ceremonies of SOBCon13, and now a full time blogger and lounge singer, commented on the President’s speech by saying “gosh, it’s hard to believe that a little movement like ours could have had such an effect on this country – I guess the power of positive relationships, and those vibes that emanate from them, can truly make a difference for all mankind”

I know this was a bit of a reach – OK, it was more than a reach. How could I imagine that a 3rd party candidate could be elected president? Twice.

:-)

:-)

Why couldn’t there be a “Half-Fuller’s Day”? Gotta dream big………

Here are my tags – Dwayne, Bob, Easton, Karen, and Lyman. Have at it!

And thanks again Joe and April.

Terry

Great dream! The farther you reach the more opportunity you have to go farther. I will make sure I will be at SobCon13! :)

Hey, I liked that “wretched attempt”. :)

Thanks for the tag, Terry… this one can be really useful; give me a little time to work it out.

I do know that I’m gonna make it to SOBCon myself before 2013.

Sweet!

Awesome! Love the clever title.

As the incurable optimist, I say we designate our own “Half-Fuller’s Day.” It is a great idea.

Thanks for playing!

Hi Billy, Lyman, Easton and April -thanks for stopping by!

Billy, see you at SOBCOn13 (and 08, 09, 10, 11, AND 12). Look forward to meeting you.

Lyman, I look forward to reading your “kennoodle”, and see you at SOBCon08.

Easton, sweet indeed!

April, great meme, I had a great time with it. May 12 will always be a “half-full day” for me.

All the best to everyone!

Hey Terry,
I don’t know how I missed this for so long, I really was looking for it. I knew it had to be good.
All that about SOBCon fits, but “lounge singer” is a bit of a stretch, even for you. ;-)
Great job.

Hey Karen and Joe!

Karen, I look forward to your post on this meme.

Joe, glad you liked it – so you really think that singer thing was a stretch, huh? :-)

All the best!
