The ever-inspirational Rosa Say has done it again with a challenge issued on Joyful Jubilant Learning, called Rapid Fire Learning. Rosa tells us as only she can, “Keia manawa” (seize the moment) with this “right here and now stream of consciousness exercise“.
My “stream” is in constant motion, so let me tap into it for a “rapid 5″:
- I learned I enjoy breaking things down into 5 parts – the blog lists I’ve been doing (here and here) are great exercises in focus and summarization that I can apply in the “non-virtual” world.
- I decided I liked Starbucks’ new breakfast sandwiches – I tried them a couple of times and each time they were pretty darn tasty. Chalk another one up for Howard!
- I determined (with lots of help from my blogging friends) that optimists can be born AND made. Here’s another inspiring example (from Pendulum Parenting).
- I confirmed that spending time with fellow bloggers on the phone and in person (as well as online) makes the whole experience that much more meaningful. An example was a recent chat I had with Liz Strauss as part of her “BAD Blogger” series.
- I figured out that there really are “do-overs” in home improvement projects that actually make things better – I’m happy to say that our formerly flooded basement chronicled in December has been re-done beyond our expectations. The “part B” of this one is that I realized I really can paint walls without splattering paint everywhere!
There you go Rosa, and thanks for the challenge!

Yeah Terry! Mahalo nui for sharing your fiver with us! So often we think of learning in terms of classes and courses, and not often enough of the wonders we create by learning the best in our own lives. Your list rocks … and Starbucks owes you yet again!
I can personally attest that your boat is always in the rapids, SB! I appreciate that you handle the oars well and keep things on an even keel!
Congrats on the basement. I know how much stress those home improvement emergencies can be. It’s always great to have it in our 20/20 hindsight.
What a great post! I sympathize with the flooded basement – mine still does! Want to come fix it? I’ll put some Duran Duran on…
(Obscure reference to last night’s Successful Blog chat LOL)
Thanks for sharing! Hope you have a terrific day!
Rosa, Tom and Marti, thanks for your comments!
Rosa, yes Starbucks owes me – but on the other hand I do spend a lot of money over there; maybe we’re even!
Tom, as much as I’m pleased with the results of the basement, I don’t want to go through that again any time soon. Maybe the second time I won’t be so patient, but then again, there’s that half full glass……
Marti, it was great to compare our Duran Duran notes last night, and I hope you have a great day (and rest of week) too!
All the best to you all!
