5 Things You Don’t Know About Me (aka Keeping the Tag Alive)

by Starbucker on December 9, 2006

Several of my friends in the blogosphere have “tagged” me (or mentioned me in a tagging post) as part of a virtual “chain” asking me to reveal 5 “new” things about myself (thanks Drew, Leah, Deb, Rosa, Rick, and Christine). Since I would hate to let these great people down, here goes:

  1. I still have my wisdom teeth – all four of them. That means I spend 20 more seconds per day flossing (add that up over 42 years and I’ve spent 85 hours on this task).
  2. I was a pyromaniac in First Grade – we actually had the police called on us when we lit a few fires in a neighbors back alley (that was scary to have the police pull up on our playground – I got scared straight!).
  3. I like to “combine” my food on the plate. I’m the opposite of those folks who can’t have their food touch each other. I love multiple flavors and textures on the same fork. Shepard’s pie is like a dream come true for me.
  4. I have a weird ability to spot and buy women’s handbags that my wife just loves (and no ability to get any other kind of purchase right). One of these naturally born talents I guess :-)
  5. My middle name is Joel – maybe I should go with “TJ Starbucker”?

There you have it. And which 5 blogs do I “tag”? Since I was so late to this party, a lot of folks have already posted their five, but I’ll give it a shot anyway: Terry, Trevor, Gretchen, Mary, and John – you are “it”!

Aloha TJ :-) I think you might get a prize here for the most eclectic diversity in your five previously unknowns to us.

I also think I speak for every woman on the planet whose husband may again give them a kitchen appliance this Christmas, that we wish they had your naturally born talent with spotting handbags for us!

Terry – As a youth I was also a pyro but never had an experience of having the police come talk to me. I suppose that is because I practiced my arts at home, where I lived on a 3 acre farm.

Since we lived out in the country we didn’t have a trash man that came to pick up our trash. So we elected, at the time, to burn it all and I was always the first to volunteer if I hadn’t been chosen for the task.

I can remember at least a couple instances of singed eyebrows–ahh, the memories. ;)

Rosa and Tim, thanks for stopping by!

Rosa, I’d be glad to pick out a handbag for you anytime! If your husband needs help, just let me know.

Tim, I’m glad I’m not alone in the youthful indiscretion of pyromania! It sounds like you could really do it right out there on the farm. It was pretty tough for us sneaking around alleys (hence the “catch” and the cops). Every time I light a match (which I admit is probably once a year now) I think about that day with the police.

All the best to you both.

I agree with Rosa – a very electic mix. I can see why your wife would enjoy your talent for handbags but I would be happy with Rosa’s husband’s preference for kitchen appliances (I got a new pasta maker for the anniversary on the weekend and was over-the-moon). Actually I will go with any electrical appliance – got an orbital sander once that I was very ahppy with).

As for the fire fasination you would have been a good addition to the local kids in my neighbourhood when it came to bonfires and fireworks on the Queens Birthday long weekend (you are actually just the right age to have been one of the local kids in my area).

Thanks for playing tag.

Hey TJ! That does have a ring to it. :-)

Now I am filled with shame with my total inability to properly chose any fashion accessory, much less a handbag.

My wife loves to cook, but I learned long ago the hazards of kitchen appliances for anniversaries or Christmas.

Thanks for sharing.

OK…

I LOVE the TJ Starbucker!! Too cool…and a pyro to boot! I knew you had a fire-y streak in ya!!

Thanks for sharing the dirt…it’s always fun getting the scoop:)

Phil, Leah, Rick and Kammie- thank you all for stopping by.

Phil, love the googly moogly thing! Let me think about that game show idea…… :-)

Leah, I have to say I’m just not very good with appliances, but I have to ask – what project did you work on with an “orbital sander” (sounds really scientific!)?

Rick, just like Rosa’s husband, if you need some help with a handbag just let me know!

Kammie, I feel SO much better now that I’ve admitted my prior pyromaniac tendancies – stay tuned for more “true confessions” ;-)

All the best to all of you!

Terry – I’m with you on the food combining thing. And since my mother was in retail for many years I’ve got a 6th sense when it comes to women’s fashion (scary but true.)

I wasn’t much for fire though…probably has something to do with almost burning my house down when I was a kid when I left a bagel in the toaster too long. (OK, a small fire started, the house was never really in danger. I was more prone to exaggeration as a kid than anything else…)

Hi Ben, I need to call you if I’m ever brave enough to buy my wife a piece of clothing. I also had my share of burnt toast growing up – why is it so hard to do that?? All the best.

When it comes time to buy my wife a handbag, I’m coming to you cowboy! Thanks for joining in the fun!

Just let me know Tom, I’ll pick one out for you! Thanks for stopping by and all the best.
