A Half-full Relaxation Technique

by Starbucker on June 14, 2006

About a year and a half ago my wife bought me one of those Bose I-Pod players for my office – it’s an incredible machine I highly recommend. When I’m not on the phone or talking to someone it’s constantly on, playing my music on a random basis (I love this method because it puts the element of surprise into the mix). One thing I’ve noticed is that certain songs or artists will put me in a very relaxed state almost on cue – something about the melody or the voice – no matter what I’m doing. Today I really noticed one artist in particlular I need to share, since it works every time. Her name is Alison Krauss – she’s a successful bluegrass singer who also happens to be a very fine musician, and has a voice like an angel – seriously. If you’ve heard her before you know what I mean, and if you haven’t I suggest you check her out on Amazon. The best place to start is with the collection Now That I’ve Found You: A Collection. My favorite is the title track. You also can’t go wrong with Lonely Runs Both Ways and New Favorite, both with her great backing band Union Station. So if you are looking to relax to some excellent music, give Alison a try.

Howdy!

“Bose iPod”? Bose is a speaker, isn’t it? Is that like a docking station that’s a large speaker? Or just external speakers for the iPod?

(curious)

Hi Hart. It’s a docking station that is a large speaker – about $300. Absolutely fantastic sound.
